The Thing About Nutrition – Part 3 1024 1024 Oden Strength

The truth is that many people don’t have your interests in mind.

This is because of two possibilities:

  1. They know what they are doing and are out to fleece people.
  2. They themselves have convinced themselves that they have the ultimate answer.

A lot of people out there want you to believe that fat loss is complicated.

They want your cash, and they will do anything to get it.

There are many factors that contribute to fat loss:

  • Hormones
  • Stress
  • Sleep
  • Nutrient timing

There are more that a the moment escape me, but ultimately the main driver of fat loss is a calorie deficit.

You are an outward reflection of the habits that you have.

What you do, day in and day out results in the body that you see before you in the mirror.

Clients might be with me in the gym for 2 hours a week. That leaves 166 hours for that person to continue on with the habits that they have that might be counter-intuitive to the outcome that they want.

It takes time to form a new habit.

On average research shows that to install a habit, it takes 66 days. Cut yourself some bloody slack and realise that nothing about the process is linear. Each person is different and each person is in a different stage of mental readiness. All new change is decided upon in a moment. When I decided to leave my old job and take up personal training it happened in a few seconds.

The takeaways here:

  • Some people are assholes who want your money.
  • Fat loss will always be ultimately about energy balance.
  • You are what you do, repeatedly.
  • Give yourself some bloody time. Be patient.

I’ll be back this week with more on the topic, as well as some other material.

In the meantime, enjoy your Monday.
