There are two things you need to be mindful of if you’re looking to improve your physique.
- Your energy balance.
- Your protein intake.
The work you do in the gym connects you with your body. It makes things work better, even at a cellular level.
The other two when addressed will improve your body composition.
I’m not going to go into how much protein people should have because I feel like I’d be throwing rocks at a hornet’s nest. So I’m just going to tell you that if you don’t know and you feel like you could be in better condition, you need more.
So how do you go about this?
The same way you should be doing everything else. Incrementally.
As it’s a safe bet you’re not getting enough protein you need to identify opportunities where you can add sources of it.
You can find out which foods have what amount of protein by using Google. It’ll spit out a list at you. It might look something like this:
- Fish
- Chicken
- Red Meat
- Eggs
- Nuts
- Whey Protein
- Dairy Foods
aaaaaaand such and such.
Select ONE of the foods from the list that you could easily work into your eating during the day.
Start eating it. Then do it again. Keep doing it for a while until you do it without thinking about it.
Hey guess what, you have a new habit.
Introduce another source of protein. Then do it again. Keep doing it for a while until you do it without thinking about it.
Yup, another habit.
The work you do in the gym has to be supplemented by protein. You have muscle to build here.
It won’t build on nothing. There are chemical reactions that have to take place for muscle to be built from the weight work you do.
If you’re sitting there thinking “but I don’t do any gym work and/or weights” then go and join a gym and start doing it.
If you feel like you don’t need to join a gym you’re probably on the wrong blog.
Better living everybody!
